“Courage is not the absence of fear, it's the conquest of it. Courage may
mean doing it afraid until you are no longer afraid...” ~ Pastor Tom Peters
There is nothing like a fresh start! Every year on December 31 there are more goals and desires set into motion than any other time of year. They're resolutions, New Year resolutions come from a desire to reform our habits, behaviors and ultimately the outcome of our actions.
Every year there seems to be more and more uncertainty. We live in an age when information flies faster than ever before. Most of this information is negative in content. Not only is it negative, it's worldwide. By the click of a mouse or push of a remote you can hear about wars, economies, terrorism and any world crisis happening within moments of the event. This can produce fear into any society. However, I believe in every generation there is HOPE. Hope is always identified, recognized and proven through people. The victories of an individual always motivates others to pursue and achieve. Every great movement for change was led by individuals who were willing to move beyond the fear and achieve in the midst of great adversity.
The power behind these people is “COURAGE”. A few years ago my family and I went to the cinema to watch a movie. The movie focused on the the racial tensions of the 1960s. I was so moved by a conversation a mother had with her daughter. The daughter wrote a book that exposed the abusive actions of white employers to minority women working in suburban homes. The mother communicated with her daughter how proud she was of her work. She then said:
“Courage often skips a generation....”
The mother didn't have the courage to stand up to the mindset of society or the opinions of others. The term “fear not” is mentioned 365 times in the bible. That is one for each day of the year. Your resolutions are going to take COURAGE! Courage to move beyond the circumstances and into the extraordinary life God has designed for you. Fear is the biggest factor in holding you back from moving forward. I have determined COURAGE is not going to skip my generation. There is a work to be done, and God uses people to accomplish this work. Determine to face each day with the courage and confidence that God is bigger than your circumstances. Live and purpose and make a difference!
